I am considering the purchase of a used Ranger Tug. Are the warranties, in particular the hull warranty, transferable to a new owner?

I believe the hull warranty is 1 year, and I don't know if it's transferable. Call Ranger Tugs to find out... (253) 839-5213.

Just some general comments based upon having watched Ranger Tugs for a few years.
Comments apply to boats beyond the factory warranty period.

If there is a defect in the boat due to Ranger Tug/employees they cover it! I have not yet seen a factory defect which they do not make right.
So, if you buy a 4 year old boat and suddenly discover that plumbing was installed backwards, or bolts were left out of the engine mounts, or the wrong gauge wire was used and is now melting insulation, or the deck is falling off the hull, (or some such) my belief is that the factory will step up. That belief is based on the level of commitment I have observed in their dealings with customers owning second or third hand boats - including me.

Installed equipment comes from other companies. This is engine, tranny, thrusters, and on, and on. There you will have to speak directly with the company that made the parts. (this is the same for all boat makers)
Equipment can and does fail. Just normal use and wear will eventually fail 'all' equipment on the boat, someday. That is hardly a warranty issue.
Your level of satisfaction in dealing with these supplier companies over issues of failure or malfunction that you feel were due to a defective unit may not match that feeling of satisfaction you get from Ranger Tugs.

Life is a crap shoot. But in general with buying a used Tug you have better odds of being satisfied in the end than with any other boat maker that I am aware of - at least below the multi million dollar yacht range.

I am the second owner of my R29 I can say first hand that the company stands behind their product 100%. Where else can you call directly to a decision maker and have issues resolved immediately on the phone .Phone calls made on my behalf to manufacturers to resolve issues.. I would not be concerned about them standing behind their products.. Just make sure it is the type of boat you want and if so you will not be let down . If you start digging through this forum you will see countless examples of the high level of service ..I have never seen this much customer satisfaction in a product before..

I absolutely agree with all that denny-o and Mark have posted.

In addition, let me add that if you buy a used Tug directly from Ranger it will have been refurbished, cleaned and brought up to full specifications, and will be provided with a warranty. I witnessed this as a fellow Tugnut (an R-25 classic model) which is docked a few slips from me did this about a year back. I believe the boat was shipped in from East coast and was a 2008 model. When it was delivered to the dock it was in pristine condition and from my point of view looked brand new. I saw Kenny at the boat one or two times making good on keeping the owner very happy. They are still happy with their boat and the Ranger Tug service. Of course, it helps that the Ranger Tug factory is local as well, but suspect any reputable Ranger Tug dealer would offer similar service from what I've read in this forum.
