Hello,
Has anyone drained and refilled the transmission fluid on the cummins 150 engine? Cummins manual
tells how but I don't understand how to catch fluid once the drain plug is taken out. Area underneath is
to tight to affix a container below. It appears that Delo 400 30 W oil is what's used when refilling. Thank You,Joel.

You want to suck out the oil. Here is what will work for that. It is also great for oil changes. You will love it. No mess.

You can search online for the best deal for one. You should find one for around $70.00

I found it helpful in using liters vice quarts when doing the transmission change on the R21. I use a sucker from Harbor Freight and it gets the job done for about $30. I use Delo 400 in 30W. Warm oil is easier to remove so that's a great excuse to take the boat out. Bob Heselberg Eatonville Wa

Stuart and Bob,
Thanks for your help. I have ordered a pump and will have it in a few days. Sounds like the pump works
on cars and trucks as well. Thanks again for resolving my dilemma. Safe Boating, Joel

I agree with the pump. I got one at West Marine that looks like a 2 gallon gas can with a bicycle pump on top. It works great. It you are on a budget, and REALLY brave, stick a BIG baggie under the drain. I swear on my mother's good name that I saw a person sucsessfully do it that way last year. I don't recommend it though. One thing I KNOW from experience, when you get done changing oil, there will be oil in places you haven't even been. Be sure you have a lot of old rags before you get started.

I will toss in another note. I don't know if the 25 has a hole in the pan under the motor but the 21 does and some duct tape over the hole while changing the filter is a good idea and goes with those rags. Remove when you are done using those rags. The bicycle pump in a can pump works fine but the hose is poor and worth while to put on hose that is stiffer. I used truck air line. I have to admit the hardest part of my transmission change is not cross threading the fill plug, I have changed it several times and dread that poorly designed plug. Bob Heselberg
