I have a 2005 Ranger 21 classic' I just brought it home, my question concerns the single lever shifter / throttle . I am familiar with this type of shifter but something is different. I can not bypass the transmission and open the throttle alone. I am not sure if this is factory or the shifter is broken. there is a trigger to pull which allows the lever to come out of neutral, but not bypass the transmission. Is there another button or is this the actual function set by the factory, JUST IN GEAR AND GO?

to answer my own question... the throttle / shifter can be used to bypass the shift linkage by pulling the lever outward as if trying to remove the lever. This will allow only the throttle to be used without engaging the transmission
