Transom Moisture

My wife and I are in the process of purchasing a 2014 R25 SC. During the survey elevated moisture readings were observed at the port inboard and stbd outboard swim step upper support fasteners. Has anyone out there experienced this problem and is the transom solid fiberglass or cored at the swim step attach points?

Drilling through the swim grid to mount Weaver dinghy davits I encountered plywood. I am not surprised that there has been some water intrusion in this area.

I also installed a davit system on our swim platform, this year and noted that it was a wood core.

I will see about posting some photos of the layup of the platform. There is only wood in some of the points where the rails attach, davits mount and I believe by the swim ladder. The remainder is actually a foam core. Should be a relatively easy fix if one is needed. Photos to follow.

Andrew, What you and others are saying is the elevated moisture reading is coming from the platform core, not the transom. I was concerned that the platform attaching point to the transom was allowing water intrusion into the transom. Is the transom cored? If it is just the platform that is not a big concern.

We drilled drain holes where the swim ladder stows in the swim platform. Hit wood, so we drilled over sized holes then used epoxy to fill the holes completely and then drilled just through the epoxy plugs so not to have water intrusion into the wood core.
