I'm researching bottom painting Kismet, it's been three years. My question is about what I might expect to pay for lifting my R27 out of the water with a travel lift and blocking the boat up with jack stands and then relaunching the boat the next day. I'll supply the bottom paint labor but I'd like to get a ball park idea on what others pay for this service and or other suggestions?

Thanks for your input,

Jim

$12.50/foot round trip w/pressure wash a month ago in Annapolis, MD.

Which probably translates to $7 per foot in TC.....

I did check here in Traverse City and wish it was $7.50 per foot but alas it is close to what others have said....I was quoted $330 or $12.25 per foot without a power wash. Thanks for the info here and from PM's.

Depending on how nasty your hull is, you may need more than one day to clean and paint your hull, and apply multiple coats. Remember, after you paint the hull, you have to move the blocks and paint that area as well. With the paint I used, each coat represented one year in the water. Three coats represented three years in the water before it had to be pulled for another cleaning. Have fun :?

An interesting concept of one coat per year. Why not add more coats and try to go longer and eliminate the cost of pulling, cleaning, sanding and scraping for a year or two longer?

Have you seen the cost of hull paint? The good stuff is really expensive. I always did three coats and that worked well for me. I never had the shekels to go for additional coats.

Be thankful you are not in San Diego. It was $15.00 a foot just to lift my 21 from the water and load it on Cory's trailer. The pressure washing was only $40.00. Come back to Portland. Sundance will lift you out and put you on a work rack then put you back in the water for about $35.00.

If you can, 1st coat any color different from the final coat color. 2nd coat or more(final color) on top of that. 1st coat now becomes your warning color. No need to repaint till that first color shows.
