I am fortunate to have enjoyed a modification that came with a recent acquisition. I purchased Goliath and she came with a load of very fine customizations for an early 1990's R21 Classic. One vintage mod that really rocked my world and I absolutely enjoyed was the vintage brass and oak spoke'd, 24" ships wheel from John Hastie & Co, Greenock Scotland. If you go to my album you'll see a pic of this little piece of work. The centrifugal force of the spokes on the wheel at the pilot's hand allows a seemingly effortless pirouette transitioning from reverse to forward while executing a 180 degree turn. My regret is I never got a video of the maneuver or the helm craft while on Goliath. It's a true tug boat ballet maneuver. I just purchased a vintage Brown Bros, Roesbank Ironworks, ships wheel Edinburgh Scotland and it will be installed on St. Brendan. I have a rotary helm set up where Goliath had a rack & pinion system, so I'm anxious to see how she will perform. It's also a way cool looking way to ride.
