There is a plastic small fluid tank at the rear of the engine compartment that I believe contains fluid for the trim tabs. Can anyone advise me what fluid goes in there. Thanks

I use this, but any hydraulic tilt/trim fluid will do. Make sure your hatch is closed and trim tabs retracted before you fill it so you don’t overfill.

Thanks Dave. But how do you fill it with the engine hatch closed. Also if I check the level with the hatch open does that mean that it may indicate a low level because of fluid in the hatch arms.

Dave. A YouTube site says that you use a transmission fluid. So I am confused. Someone else said that you use the same transmission as is used in the Volvo Penta engine.

Dave. Found the bennett manual which says fill the reservoir with any type of transmission fluid.

Assume you have an aft hatch that the rear seat hinges on? Reason you can’t use the engine hatch is because on the c30 it uses the same resivour.

The hatch lift on the C-28 uses the same reservoir as well.

I use ATF in mine. I remove the insert of the storage compartment of the rear seat. Takes some extra time but gives good access to the trim reservoir. You can also inspect steering linkage, stern thruster, etc.

I attach some clear hose to a funnel to make it easier to fill the reservoir. As noted, take care not to over fill.

I found that if I cut off the tip of an acid brush, the metal tube remaining is the perfect size to fit in the reservoir - and it is rigid so helps in getting it positioned in the hole. It is also a nice diameter to attach a length of tubing that goes to a funnel.
