2016 R27 Classic. I've been noticing that my trim tabs don't do much to level the boat out side to side. I found out that my left trim tab rocker operates the right tab and visa versa. I checked out Blue, a fellow 2016 R27 and his are backwards as well. I can't believe we're both wired backward, so I'm wondering if maybe this is by design? Although I can't imagine why.

Any thoughts?

Mine are right way round on my 2015

That is correct the bow down starboard is done by port tab. Bow down port is done by the starboard tab. This is design.

They are working as designed. The right tab rolls the boat left and the left rolls it right. So that the switches are intuitive, when actuating the left switch to roll vessel left, it is moving the right tab. Actuating right switch moves left tab to roll vessel right.

I noticed that my port tab reacts slower than my starboard side on my Ranger 29. I noticed that when I was on the bunks testing them.

Thanks everybody. Good to know that all is as it should be. I guess I sort of understand the logic of the reverse wiring, although for me that's not intuitive. In my mind I want to deploy or retract the port or starboard tab, and I know what the effect is. But now that I know, I'll just think backward and all will be fine!

It confused me as well. Then I was told, just worry about what the boat is doing, not the tabs. If the command you give, gives you the results you want... don't worry about what the tabs are actually doing.

That is why the controls are labeled “Bow up” and “Bow Down” and not “Tab Up” and “Tab Down”. It is about the boat, not about the Trim tabs. As an engineer, I have made the same mistake with many systems because I thought too much about how they work instead of focusing on what I want the boat to do. :geek:

Having recently replaced the switch in our R-29, I can say that if you don’t like the operation of the tabs, just flip the switch. It installs and operates just fine upside-down.
