Just a brief summery of our trip across Canada, including a slight dip into Washington to Anacorties

2013 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel truck ( single rear wheels )
2011 aluminium triaxle Tuff trailer (2,500 lbs, approx 16,500 lbs including boat )
2011 Ranger R29.

No one asked for my license rating on this trip as I was told I needed higher rating for the weight. In fact I was only asked if I had permits twice. I suspect the plate brings it up on the screen on the scales.

Total miles in the truck 2788 ( to Anacorties )

Total Dollars fuel CDN $ 1294

Total fuel 192 gal

Total Deff fluid 8 gal

Total Dollars Deff $ 30.00 CDN

Total hotel rooms $0 ( we parked in parking lots and rest stops )

Total permits $136.00 CDN

Total ferry fees $127.20 CDN ( ferry to fetch truck from Anacorties $39.00 and Ferry from Vancouver to Victoria with truck $88.20, We launched the boat in Anacorties and boated to our marinia )

Trailer being stored in Anacorties $50.00 USD per month

Slip fee per month $436.80 all in ( based on 7 months )

Truck parking indoor per month $50.00

We checked around and there are a lot of marinas available. For us this one worked out the best as it is only a short walk to the downtown. It.It has an indoor/ outdoor pool and an indoor hot tub. The marinia is pretty well 100% live a boards.

I am happy to answer any questions if any one has any. PM me or my email: markrenshaw@hotmail.com
Trip went without incident and I highly recommend anyone that can, to trailer their boat around.

Hi Mark, thanks for your trip expense report. I never like to add our numbers up but you gave me a good reason to compare your cross country expenses to ours and maybe these numbers will be helpful for those considering planning a cross country long distance trip. We departed from Michigan and arrived in Portland, Oregon....2,300 miles. Like you we did not stay at hotels but we did stay at RV Parks. Our trip took 7 days, averaging 350 miles per day. We tow our R27 with a 3/4 GMC diesel powered 4x4. Our boat and trailer weigh in at about 10,800 lbs.

1. fuel $493.00, 210 gallons @ an average of $2.35, getting about 11 MPG

2. RV Parks...$212.00, 6 nights averaging $35 per night

3. meals out $197.00, which was one lunch or dinner out per day, the balance of the time we made meals on boat at the RV Park

4. Trailer storage in Portland $89 monthly.....does not matter if its the trailer or trailer and boat, same price.

5. Dockage at Salpare Marina $513.50 for 6 weeks or $86.00 per week average, all in including pump outs.

I for got we camped one night in a casino campsite ... But it was a wash as we won what it costs.. 🙂
I thought having the costs might help others sitting on the fence about traveling over land If you figure the cost to just transport people with out the boat and subtract that .. The cost to move the boat is not too bad at all 🙂
