Hi,

I've searched the forum and found some ideas, but not a definitive answer. Looking at a 2015 C-30 and being able to troll for salmon in PNW is important to me. The broker gave me some ideas about the motor and bracket that I could use, but I'd love to hear from the owners.
What kicker/bracket do people use? Will I need to reinforce the swim platform for this? Has anyone had any success going electric?

Thanks!
Pawel

A battery powered outboard would not last very long. I don't think I have sean one over 5 or 6 hp. Not knowing enough about kickers, I would thing you would need something in the 10 to 15hp range.

Following this thread for a kicker for my potential C30

My 2014 C30 has the been rigged for trolling. It has 25hp Yamaha and the modified swim bridge to make it all work.

Thanks. Was the swim platform modification done by the factory, or is it some aftermarket stuff?

Hmmm, not actually sure who did it. I believe when the boat was brought into Canada the Port Alberni boat sales organization did the customizations.

The problem with having the kicker motor attached to the swim platform is when boat is underway not being able to raise the kicker high enough to clear the water due to the boat squatting. I found this problem on my R-21EC and that was between 5 and 9 knots! I built a motor mount and attached it to the swim platform and hold down eye on back of the boat. Using a motor mounting system that can be raised and lowered I can clear the kicker from the water. I'm not sure how much space you have on the side of the swim platform on the Cutwaters but just another option. Photos of my motor mount is in my album. Good luck bob

With the configuration done by Port Boat House in Port Alberni, the kicker clears the water when underway. But... there is a little drag when I also have the dingy on the swim bridge as I cant lift the kicker leg all the way up without putting a lot of pressure on the dingy.

Tdellaviola, would you be kind enough to post a picture of your kicker motor mount, just post in your album and let us know. I'm sure it would work on a C28 also . Thanks Bob
