It seems such a First World problem and I know there are arguments for not watching TV on a boat cruise but we do like Netflix movies from time to time on our R31 in the evenings and one of ours has failed, so wondering if anyone has had to replace a tv on their Ranger and if so what did you replace it with?

How did it fail? Are there no lights on ( no power ) or something else? Just thinking simple things.. loose power cable etc. We use our tv in the berth on our 29 quite a lot. We have had the boat for 8 years and no issues at all.

I've considered replacing our TVs... 2011 model R29 so they are older LCD versions. My plan would be to go with an RV LED 12VDC model of similar size. Much cheaper than a Majestic model. I'd consider a 120VAC LED but there isn't an outlet that is convenient.

It is quite easy to run power from the GFI receptacle above the kitchen counter to behind the tv in the closet. You just need to use the proper marine wire. I found it useful for Apple TV and other add ons. I find having the tv 12 volt is nice at anchor and camping while trailering. There are quite a few 12 volt options out there, but if you install a receptacle it would certainly open up the available options.

Thanks for your replies. Firstly the Majestic would not power up and no pilot light was on. It is the overhead tv in the salon and not the one down in the cabin and is 7 years old and rarely used in the past, which is a bit frustrating. Power is on at the dc cable to it. We took the back off the unit, looking for a fuse but nothing seemed replaceable, then I checked with Port Boathouse the Ranger dealer on Vancouver Island and was told that they have replaced several of these tvs which do not get very good ratings in reviews.
I am on the boat at present and we just took a small regular 18" tv from home, hooked up an Amazon Firestick and get Netflix, Amazon Prime etc. Set it up on the chart table plugged it in under the dinette table and we are in business for now.
Port Boathouse recommended a 19" Jensen (JTV19DC 19' Led TV, 12Vdc) which has a dc input plug and would likely work just fine but the cost is $300CAN so quite a bit more than a 110volt regular tv would be. I am undecided whether to just use a 110v and store it away when not in use or just get the Jensen.

Skyworth 22" , 1080P, Smart TV, AC/DC, fits perfect and works well, except external speaker of some sorts is recommended to improve sound quality.

The tv's do not draw much. You could always just get a small inverter and pug it into the cigar socket up there and perhaps zip tie it to the back of the TV. Inverters go on sale all the time at Cdn Tire.
Good luck.. It is frustrating. I suspect that TV maybe gets more abuse the way it is stored while under way.Shakes things up inside

Easier than an inverter, if all you're watching is Netflix you can just use a computer monitor (no tuner) -- and can look for one that still uses a "wall wart" or in-line transformer. Then you just need the right DC-DC converter. There used to be straight-up TVs that had the transformer external, too, but I haven't seen one of those in a long time.

All LCD TVs are DC. It's just a question of whether they have the AC/DC transformer on the inside, or on the outside.

Since you have two TVs, have you considered swapping them to be sure the one under examination is really dead?
