Does anyone know the technical description of the cable used? I've searched all over the internet for "VGA 15 pin 17 pin" and come up empty. I searched Garmin's site as well looking at 13 pages of cables and none matched the 17 pin round collar connector (for the back of the Garmin) and the 15 pin trapezoidal VGA connector on the other end. There's got to be a more technical description of the connectors that may show up in a web search. If anyone knows, please respond. Thanks, Gary

I think this is the cable you need. It is still available on the Garmin site to order. You can call them to confirm it is the right cable. You might also need a VGA to VGA extension cable that you can find on Amazon.

Thanks. I'll have to give them a call. The description lacks any specs for the pin ends and I can't discern from the picture if they are correct or not. And it is short so an extension would be needed in my case. G

I'm looking for another Majestic TV for my 2014 C28 to locate in the rear galley window to view chart/sounder the cockpit for fishing

I have a 2012 R29 and asked the same questions some time ago. I found out that our boat was already configured by the factory or previous owner.

Here is what to look for to see if your system is already configured and if not repeat the connections.

1. On the back of your 5212 there is a video port. See if there is a cable connected. If so, good start.
2. Take a look at the TV's VGA port. See if there is a cable connected. If so, you are almost there.
3. Turn on the 5212 Chartplotter.
4. Turn on your TV and using the menu function change the source to VGA and you should have a screen on the TV that is identical to the Chartplotter. You may need to fine tune the sizing for a better fit on the TV screen.

Hope this helps.

Mikey,

It doesn't have to necessarily be another Majestic TV for your purpose. Most any monitor that accepts a VGA input would work. The monitor end of the cable is a DB 15. The only concern with your idea is length of cable run. I can't remember how long a cable run VGA supports, it might be 25 feet. You might want to google that.

I am looking for a Majestic TV for my C28 to locate at the back of the galley to view while fishing

anyone have tips on running a TV cable from the back of the chart plotter in the head to the back window of the galley? thanks

Now that the boat has running water, I finally tried mirroring my Garmin 5212 on my 2012 R27 on the Majestic TV but its not working for me.

I have the adapter plugged into the back of the Garmin, then to a 17 pin 3 row VGA cable and then plugged into the TV VGA connector. I put a chart on the Garmin, turn on the TV with the remote, select SOURCE on the remote and I get these choices:
TV
AV
S Video
YPbPr
HDMI
PC
Media
DVD

I assume PC is the same as VGA but none of the options work. In fact when I select PC, I get a message that reads “Unsupport”. Any ideas? Gart
