Hello Lorence,

Search for a user named "Scuffy" then look back at some of his posts. He installed a new TV/FM antenna on his tug which has worked well.

He may respond to your thread as well.

We installed a Digital Yacht DTV100 HD TV and FM radio antenna. About 175.74 dollars. They come with an antenna amplifier and you can click on the camera symbol to the right of this post to see what it looks like in our album. We bought it from Defender on a recommendation by Jeff Segal from Active Captain fame. The FM portion works exceptional. The TV antenna is much improved. If there isn't much antenna type TV programming available in some areas the TV antenna portion is useless. But if the programs are available the TV portion of the antenna works well. Some areas leave much to be desired in the way of anything that would really want to watch. In more metro areas programming can be very good. Others might be just showing cartoons. In the Florida Keys it did not seem to be anything other than a Spanish speaking program available.
Our boat came with a TV with a DVD player made by Majestic. For me I think it's fine. We look for a RED Box movie rentals if we feel like watching a movie. The speakers that are part of the TV are not good. We wired the TV sound into our stereos auxiliary connection and plugged into the earphone jack on the back of the TV. Some have gone with sound bars. There are Blue Tooth applications but I'm a hard wire sort of ole timer. Nothing is really too hard about our installation. The antenna amplifier takes 12VDC. We put the amp in the overhead compartment above the helm to be near the TV. The amp has all F connectors. For the radio we bought a cable with a regular Motorola male antenna plug on one end and an and a F connector to go on to the amp. If you do install the TV I would also run an antenna coax to the cockpit and purchase a small box so if you are ever in a marina/ campground that offers cable TV having a nice little connection box to screw the F connector right into at the rear of the cockpit makes hooking up easy. I used a switchable splitter on the back of the TV to be able to switch from the antenna to the cable coax hookup. I'm a news junkie and am not really interested Wheel of Fortune or reality shows. Send me a PM if you have any questions.
