I tried posting this message earlier, but I don’t know where it went. So I’ll re-compose it.

You all may have seen me on TUGNUTS lurking around and asking questions over the past two months. Well, now I am pleased to announce that I am the proud new owner of the (famous) BAY RANGER, R-27. The original owners, Ed and Elaine Henn from Annapolis, MD, made the Factory Film video about their trip(s) down the ICW. I only met Ed and Elaine when I began the purchase process. They are even nicer in person than they appear in the video. Truly fair, honest and accommodating people. They are retiring from boating, but I have a feeling we’ll all be seeing their faces often over here on the East Coast. They will be a tough act to follow. Wish me luck.

I’d also like to thank Randy Adams (GADGET), also an R-27 owner from Annapolis who treated me to an unsolicited orientation ride back in late February. It seems there are a lot of really nice Ranger Tug people out there.

Now that I am officially an owner, I have a couple technical questions that I’ve already come across in first few days. I’ll be posting them shortly. Looking forward to all your comments and help. Thanks all.

Welcome aboard! I had the pleasure of meeting the Henns at our Southwest Florida Rendezvous in 2014. They cared for their boat well so you got a good vessel. Hope to see you on the waters some day!

Thanks knotflying.... I grew up in Barrington, not too far from you.
Many years ago!

The Henns were a huge resource to us for our trip down the ICW. We met and shared, and they indeed are wonderful people.

They seemed like a great couple. Loved their video.

Is it me, or does it seem like most people only keep their Rangers for a few years and then move on?
As a new owner, that seems kinda crazy to me, considering the size of the "investment".

As I noted, Ed and Elaine are retiring from boating. They had put about 7900 miles on the "odometer" of BAY RANGER plus about an equal number on an R-25. I'm not too far from retirement either. Former sailor looking for a little less athletic boating experience. Found it onthe tug boat.
