Underwater led lights

Has anyone installed underwater led? If so are you happy with the results?
Also if you are comfortable may I as what the approximate cost was ?
I am looking at lumishore smx22 , 3 on transom. The installation looks straight forward but certainly beyond my electrical skill. The hardware cost is about 1200 but I have no idea what to expect to pay for installation
 
Just as a comparison for you.... The stock optional underwater lights for my new 2018 R-27/OB was $500.

While this option is not in any way a 'performance' aspect for the boat, they are very cool especially at nighttime.
 
Check out Hurly underwater lights. They are made to attach to your trim tabs using the existing bolts. I have had them for years and they work well. They can be pointed down or straight back using your trim taps at anchor. The wire feed hole gets drilled above the water line so you can install these while the boat is still in the water. I just went with the clear / white light so as to get the best distance of illumination. They are very helpful if you have any questions, and stand behind there products.

My 2016 C-28 Happy Days came with just about every option but underwater lights. Obviously something had to be done about that. When I picked her in Bellingham to bring her home there was a C-302 there on a trailer. I took the opportunity to take photos of the underwater lights the factory had installed on it.
After a little searching I was able to find the same lights online for about $200 each. At the same time I was working with Richard at the factory on ordering some spare parts to stow on the boat for emergencies. When I mentioned to him that I was trying to add underwater lights he went above and beyond to help me out. Along with my spare parts he tossed in two starboard mounts for the lights and he threw in a light switch as well. That was incredible.
Now that I had all the parts gathered up I took her to LBYS and had Bill install my lights. About another $400 for the install.
The lights I went with were white. The reason I went with white is because I intend to use them for making bait on occasion. The blue lights look awesome at night but I figured the white lights made more sense for me.
How do they work? I’m glad you asked. Amazing. The ocean comes alive at night. We watch, and the surrounding boaters watch too as first baitfish arrive. Then the calico bass show up and even some yellowtail and barracuda show up. The manta rays are the show stoppers as they gracefully fly by with some being quite large. Last month there were thousands of small crabs attacted to the lights. Definitely worth the money for the upgrade.

Our boat came with the blue underwater lights but we can't figure out for the life of us how to turn them off. Can someone help us? Thanks!
 
on the cutwater there are two switches outside one for the cockpit blue lights and one for the underwater lights - the same shade of blue. its next to the hatch switch
 
I know I'm going to feel really stupid when I finally find them but I have one switch in the cockpit and it turns on white lights inside the cockpit. Is it different on an R-27? We are on the boat now so I can respond immediately. Thanks
 
What model of the R-27 do you have ? The underwater lights are typically installed for the new R-27 Outboard model.

It seems to me with just one switch you likely do not have underwater lights installed.

We have the blue underwater lights installed on our 2017 R25SC. They are turned on and off with a breaker on the DC panel by the helm seat. Hope this helps!
 
Thank you for responding, we did finally find that switch you mentioned. It just says spare on it!
