Boat was pulled out recently by my Marina. Lots of barnacles which I reckoned would happen. The formerly freshwater 31cb was delivered down here in Connecticut in the middle of the launch season, so we just splashed the boat and used it. I did change the mag anodes to zincs however before the boat was launched into the brackish CT River.

So, lots of barnacles were removed, and the bottom and running gear were painted. The blue hull waxed. The underwater lights which are probably originals (11 years old) were covered with barnacles. Can’t scrape them well, esp the lenses… so I told the yard to replace them.

One of the Marina employees, a retired school teacher and long time sailor surprised me. He removed the hard plastic lights from the brackets and tied a plastic freezer bag full of vinegar to each light. The lights soaked overnight, hanging by the wires.

The next morning, viola’… Barnacles gone. Lights fastened and they work.

Ah! Thanks for that one !

If I cannot find a replacement cartridge for the broken hot/cold water shower cartridge in the shower mixing valve, I will try to revive the current one by letting it soak overnight in vinegar assuming the issue is not a rubber “seal” issue. Worth a try.
Evidently the cartridge and the shower fixture are discontinued.
