Need your guidance. Hooked up my eu2000i with a power cord adapter and fired up the generator. Reset the ground fault switch. Had every breaker on the AC panel off. First switched on the Hot Water heater and that worked just fine. Switched off the Hot Water tank, and turned on the Microwave breaker. Worked just fine. Switched off the Microwave and then switched on the battery charger. For the first time the reverse polarity light came on. Can you explain why that would happen, and what if anything I need to do. Thank you.

It is because the generator has a floating neutral (neutral tied to grounding wire). You can buy or make a plug that uses the unused outlet to tie them together.

Your battery charger should work just fine with the reverse polarity light illuminated. If you want to extinguish it, as Red Raven says, you can make or buy a neutral-ground bonding plug. If you can use a pair of wire strippers and a screw driver, you can easily make one. Enter “Honda 2000 neutral-ground bonding plug” in YouTube. There are several how-to videos. Most relate to RV surge protectors, but the principle is exactly the same.

Basically buy a plug and connect the neutral (silver colored screw) to the ground (green colored screw) then plug that into the outlet you are not using. This should eliminate the reverse polarity light.

Or simply understand what is happening and ignore the light. Adding the plug doesn't make it safer.
