2015 R-29S. Boat detailer accidentally broke the VHF antenna cable right at the clamshell where it enters the roof. Am trying to pull enough slack to allow for installation of connector/coupler. Cable at rear of radio disappears into the void under the throttle binnacle but can’t tell where it goes from there. Seemingly obvious path from roof clamshell into the boat not so obvious after all; expected that removing the vertical piece of molding/naugahyde just forward of the window would reveal a chase containing the cable but no joy. Found only one black cable in there - antenna cable is white. Can someone advise as to routing of the antenna cable from roof to behind the helm?

Gordon, not exactly sure if the routing is the same as on my C30-CB, but mine goes down from the outside through a wiring chase in the starboard aft corner of the salon, there's a removable wall corner piece that covers it. From there, it goes down and under the starboard gunwale and forward to the helm where it branches off to my AIS and to the radio.

Our VHF antenna broke off on our R-25 Classic a long time ago. I know, it’s a completely different boat.
After realizing the existing coax cable was firmly secured along its run by a million zip ties I gave up trying to replace it. I uncovered where the cable enters the hull into the cockpit and installed a male BNC connector on the end on the existing cable. Then fed the new antenna cable end into the cabin and put a female BNC connector on that end. Connected the two ends and all was good. The new antenna was much better than the factory original. Never had a problem with the BNC connectors.

Dave, thanks, I’ll take a look at the aft corner of the salon.

Vicki/Al, thanks. I’ve already installed new connectors/couplers, but the break is so close to the entry point into the roof that I can’t reinstall the original clamshell. I suppose if I can’t get enough slack in the cable (I only need an inch or so) I could install a larger clamshell.
