Hello - some months ago I received a e-newsletter from the factory that had a DYI Maintenance video on adjusting the drip frequency at the packing gland. It showed Andrew using two 60 mm hex wrenches. I'd love to watch that again now, but cannot find the link. Can anyone direct me to this series of DYI Ranger maintenance videos?

Thanks - Paul

Does anyone know what packing material was used? Mine needs replacing.

Thanks, Leon

There is a step-by-step tutorial with photos in this issue of the Factory Newsletter, but I'm not aware of a video. Other videos are found in the media section of the Ranger Tugs website.

Cheers,

Bruce

Bruce - this is exactly what I needed. Thanks for sending this over. Rigid E-110 hex wrenches are on the way thanks to Amazon Prime! Appreciate the quick help!

Thanks, Paul

Hi Bruce: Welcome to 2016. Hope all is well with you up there in the Land of the Free. Been some time since we last spoke. Just reading the article in the factory bulletin wrt adjusting/maintaining the packing gland. Interesting topic and very important too. Can you tell me: would this technique apply to my R21 packing gland arangement? It looks the same as in the photos anyway - just wondering if the gland nuts and sealing materials are all the same dimensions. Your thoughts? Kind regards, Stevan

PS: I know we should not ever discuss politics on this site, but, 'tongue in cheek', I can't help wondering how you are all coping with the lengthy, drawn-out, ongoing presidential election saga. No doubt you will all be (hopefully) relieved when it is over for another few years!
Now that I have actually mentioned politics, I would not be surprised if someone over there fines me a case of 'Bud'
(just like in the Navy tradition).

Hello Steve,

The 1" shaft in our R21ECs uses 1/4" packing material. I've not needed to repack the stuffing box on my boat yet but I understand it takes 3 wraps of the 1/4" material which would be a little less than 10" total length.

Thanks Dave - appreciated. Regards
