I seem to remember others on this site that had a minor coolant leak on their Volvo D3. Well, I just got the bill from my mechanic for $570.00 to fix the leak. Turns out someone forgot to put in a $0.50 sealing washer when they assembled the hose connection from the engine to the hot water heater. That connection is 2 brass fittings on the port side of the engine near the oil dip stick. The fittings have straight threads not pipe threads and require a sealing washer. This has been leaking since I purchased the boat. I am the second owner and do not know if the original owner did work in this area or it was left out at the factory.

If anyone out there is having a very slow coolant leak you might want to look at that connection. The cost of the repair is high do to its location, having to dissemble other components to get to the connection, draining and refilling the coolant and pressure testing the fix.
