Volvo D3 EVC Comm Error

My 2015 R25SC / Volvo D3-150 has developed an EVC communication problem where the helm cannot communicate with the engine. It is setting several error codes:
MID: 187, PSID: 200, FMI: 9, OCC: 3
MID: 187, SID: 231, FMI: 2 , OCC: ---
MID: 128, PID: 91 ,FMI:2 , OCC: —

I had to manually kill the engine with the engine mounted stop button. The wiring harness/connector at the engine seems to be OK. How is the harness routed? is there any other device at the helm station? Any suggestions or other troubleshooting would be appreciated.

On my 2014 R-27 with a D3 200 hp, there is an engine harness connector strip behind the refrigerator. It is mounted near the backbone for the N2K network. This connector is a 'buss bar' like strip with several harness' plugged into it. The refrigerator has to be removed to access this connection.

Hello Larry,

It sounds like either low engine battery voltage, or a loose connection to me. I would remove the helm control and check the connections below to ensure there isn't anything loose. The other place to check would be the multilink hub, which is behind the refrigerator. It's a yellow 'hub', with 3 out the 6 ports connected.

Thanks for your great support. Disconnecting and reseating the PCU (engine controller) connector resolved the comms issues.
