Volvo D4 260 Water Fuel Sensor

Has anyone ever had issue removing the sensor from the bottom of the fuel filter? It just keeps spinning but doesn't actually come off. I'm stumped?

Yes, I have. Miserable problem to have. Just spins and spins, won't come off.

A mechanic was telling me that happens with certain additives added to the fuel. Don't know if that's true. I have been adding startron.

I always keep a spare fuel sensor on the boat along with the spare primary fuel filter.

It has several threads. It drops down about 1/4 to 1/2" before it comes off. There is a rubber seal that the threads can get caught on. Pull down and the sensor should fall out.

Nope wont come out even with a tug and spin. just keeps spinning and spinning. Martin: it must be our NJ Fuel??

Annoying as I now must wait for a new one to be shipped to me and a $100+ later.

We had the same problem. I replaced the fuel filter at the same time. Figured new everything was the safe way to go.

I do wonder about the fuel. My secondary filter looked none to healthy when it was replaced. I had about 110 hours on it. I think I will replace it at about 50 hours this year just to check it.

Same problem here. Our boatyard tech somehow replaced it during routine maintenance. Sounds like a common problem for many of you out there.
