Volvo engine in the 29'

Can someone tell me what was the first year the 29' Ranger got the Volvo engine.

We started using the Volvo engine when we re-designed the R29 back in 2015. Hope this helps.

I'm confused I have a early 2013 29' RT with a Volvo D4, so I assume the year of the change was 2013.

Our 2013 RT 27’ has a D3-200 Volvo. We have a friend whose 2012 RT 27’ had the Yanmar. As I recall, the 2013 model year marked the change over from Yanmar to Volvo for all models. I recall worrying a bit about it, because the Volvo was untested by RT owners. Ours has been a great engine, and I’ve been more than happy that it was what we ended up with.

Our 2013 R27 has the Volvo D3 200hp, which I believe was the first year of the Volvo in a Ranger Tug. So pretty sure as others have stated that 2013 was the changeover for Ranger Tug from Yanmar to Volvo for any model.

Kevin was thinking of the newer style 29. The 29 classic we used Volvo on a very small number of boats starting in very late 2013 and 2014.

That is pretty consistent amongst all of the models.
