When would you normally service or replace injectors on a small engine like the VP D1-30. The manual says 500hr or 2 years. I have almost 5 times those recommended hours and over 3 times the timeframe.

I see no loss of power, no signs of smoke so what issues should I be concerned with that would make me want to pull them? There's obviously lots of things going on that I can't see and just wondering what they might be?

Also

For these injectors, would it be something worth pulling myself and getting serviced or just replace them? I've never replaced or serviced before so not sure what the cost difference and benefits of one over the other would be.

Also

Would glow plugs be an item to replace on a timeframe or number of hours just because, or would certain symptoms dictate when you would replace them?

Glow plugs last a long time. On the road, they'll last 100k miles or more. If the Volvo diesels are like every other diesel I've ever worked with, you may only need to replace them once or twice during the entire useful life of your engine.

I ran a little Yanmar 1GM ( a whole 7hp) for 30 years and never did a thing to the injector. Attend to the fuel filters and I think you should be OK.

As they say, "If it works, don't fix it." Injectors don't normally suddenly fail. You will have issues that indicate injector problems like hard start, misfire, smell of fuel or increased fuel consumption.

Thanks for the feedback Folks. Much appreciated,

Newf.
