Hello Tugnuts!
I am new here to the forums, and also a new to me 2014 cutwater c26 owner.
The engine is a Volvo Penta d3-200
Got the boat delivered to my slip a couple weeks ago, took her out on my maiden voyage and broke down about a mile outside the Ventura harbor where i keep the boat.
Turns out the serpentine belt tensioner was seizing up and broke the belt, which then shot up into the timing belt and broke the timing belt tensioner off from it's bolt hole in the engine block. Now the engine block is damaged and the boat is in the shop.
Engine has only 70 hours on it.
Has anyone seen this kind of damage done before to an engine block? I know the belt tensioners can seize up but it seems it wouldn't be so easy to break off the timing belt tensioner from the block since it's such an integral part of the engine.
The engine ran beautifully during sea trial of course, and it is very clean.
