Volvo Service and Maintenance or Workshop Manual D-4

I will be inspecting and taking apart the after cooler and the reverse cooler on a 2014 D-4 Volvo engine. Volvo has two manuals listed. The Service and maintenance D4_D6 (A-F -2019 and the Workshop manual D4/D6 Group 21-26. Which manual is appropriate with good directions and photos to attempt this.

My Volvo Service guy uses the the older manual. It is more detailed.

Hi Paul,

Not sure why you would want or need to do that, but if you deem it necessary, the workshop manual would be the one that should have disassembly and reassembly instructions. Hope this helps.

I purchased the Workshop Manual for the D4, D6, Group 20-26. It basically shows disassembly and assembly of the engine, lubricating, fuel and cooling systems. It does have pictures and limited diagrams but is not a " how to book" like a Haynes Automotive Manual. It has helped me in a limited capacity, but because it is laid out as a step by step disassembly of the engine it doesn't provide a step by step process for, say, "removal of the starter ", etc.
