WA Saltwater Parks regulations

The regulations state: Boats larger than 45 feet are not permitted to moor on buoys, only docks and linear moorage.

Does anyone know if the 45' limit applies to length at waterline OR length overall?

I think its a weight issue on the moorings. which cutwater/ranger is longer than 45 feet 😀 ?

The R-41 is 39' at the waterline and 46' LOA. Regulations don't site weight, just unspecified length.

Bruce: If the R41 Bridge model's bow anchor sticks out 1' could you retrieve it to the forecastle decking to meet the 45' restriction ? Just a thought...

[EDIT] Looking at the RT photos it does seem that the bow anchor hangs out a good 1'.

Bruce, if it were me, and that boat, I would use the 41' number and sleep well. If the Park ranger brings a tape measure out and says you are wrong, then so be it.

You will certainly stress the mooring connections less than a 45' sailboat with a 10,000 lb keel.

As was told to me once, "...use the same length of boat to pay for moorage as you tell you boating buddies over drinks."

That is my opinion and it is worth what you paid...or slightly less. 🙂
