We have filled it only once. We are at 1/2 a tank currently. We boat in the Pacific Northwest and use the heater year round. (The summer can have chilly mornings).
The one time we did fill it was somewhat humorous. Pulled up to the fuel dock. Put 110 gallons of gas in. Casted off the dock lines, turned the boat around. Docked. Then put in 4 gallons of diesel.

Depending on how hot you run it is very efficient. you will burn between 6 and 14 ounces per hour. Many people make the mistake of not adding stabilizer in the fuel and/or emptying the tank at season end and add new each season. Also running it on full high once in a while keeps the glow plug and screen clean.
