Was interested if anyone had recommendations for getting bottom paint done in Washington (I'm in Kitsap)?
Our boat has never been painted. I did get one quote for $3500 that included sanding, epoxy barrier and bottom paint on our C28 which seemed a bit high. Sounds like Petit Vivid has performed well for a lot of people.

I think that price is in the ballpark. It’s a lot of work and the materials aren’t cheap. I had my 2021 R27 bottom painted at Bitter End Boatworks in Bellingham. Owner Jesse and technician Michael were easy to work with. I recommend them.

Mr, RockJumper, The least expensive way to get your boat prepped and bottom painted is to do it yourself (DIY). Believe me after doing it yourself the price quoted to you might sound a lot better!

CSR Des Moines did an excellent job on our C30 bottom paint. I don't have the price on hand but that sounds close to what I recall, maybe a bit less as one would expect for C28.

2nd vote for CSR, either location. While I haven't done the bottom paint on my new cutwater yet, I did it on my old Larson last year, and it was $3k all in. Mine was done at the Ballard location, since I keep my boat in the lake.

I use La Conner Maritime - 2 coats

my diver has said "nice paint job!" on later inspection

I also had my R27 bottom painted at Bitter End Boatworks in Bellingham at the same time I did my spring maintenance this year. I can't remember what the paint job cost separately but the total was $2100 to haul out/in, pressure wash, paint (it was first painted in 2017), also oil change, lower unit lube, and labor to replace zincs, spark plugs, filters, water pump. I recommend them as well.

Thanks all! I'll check with CSR.

Maggie, Jumper….I would expect to pay about twice as much for a first bottom paint job on an unpainted hull as I would expect to pay for a subsequent tune-up paint job. Lots more sanding and priming involved and more materials.

CSR is the only place in the Seattle area I would get my boat bottom painted... (and after looking widely for current and prior boats, it's the only place I have)
