R-23 - Where the best access to the waste holding tank vent to install the home built filter?
Thanks,

I’m not sure as I’m not familiar with the R23. However with that said the black water filter should be connected as close to the hull vent as possible.

OK, I crawled into every space I could and I cannot find the waste vent, or the line running to it. The best I can figure, it's someplace behind the refrigerator. I could use some guidance, please.
Thanks,

Find the vent outside. The vent hose comes up from the tank directly to it. The R 29 vent hose is behind the cupboards in a spot no human being can access it. If your lucky its behind your fridge. I put a charcoal vent filter on mine and in a matter of months it stunk again, waste of time and money. We now add half a gallon of white vinegar when we dump the tank. Now it smells like fish and chips when we flush!

Good Luck, Leon

I have 2 vents side by side on the starboard side in the area of the fridge. Nothing anywhere near the the pump out cap. I really don't feel like pulling the fridge.

If mine smelled like POOP I'd be a lot happier... I'm not sure what it smells like but it's really bad...

My Big Orange Filter works great! I'd be happy to change charcoal twice a year but right now I'm 10 months in and no "issues". 😉

Flush the toilet and then go outside and use your nose to find the vent. On the R-27/OB the holding tank's vent is high up on the starboard side's hull and located just forward of the helm position. For access to my vent line I believe it will be impossible without cutting into side of the cabin wall at the helm station as my photos taken when the boat was being built show the vent line up against the inside of the hull going up to the vent hole. The holding tank on the boat is completely hidden and cannot be seen from any angle under the flooring.

Here's a photo I snapped of the R-23 being assembled in the factory. Hope it helps.

[EDIT]
After viewing many photos I have for the R-23 being built at the factory I think you might be able to get to the holding tank and the fresh water vents at the hull attached location by removing the radio and/or the engine throttle lever box. With these removed you might just be able to see and get your hand down to where the two lines vent out the side of the hull. On my R-27 the fresh water vent line is black and the holding tank's vent line is white. The photo I have of a R-23 being built shows the two vent lines are white. If you go the route of removing the radio and throttle lever box you might be faced with two white lines and if that is the case you will need to contact RT to understand which one is the holding tank's vent line.

Good luck. 🙂

Holy headache Batman! I see what you mean. The VHF pops out easily, If I can gain access that way I'll do the deed. If not, I'll visit some alternatives.
Thank you, the picture was worth it!
