Water gauge/ sending unit

My water gauge is febrilating from empty to full sometimes it just sits at empty sometimes it gives me a reading in between I think I have a problem with the sending unit does anybody know exactly where the sending unit is and how to access it on a ranger 27 2011.

While the sending unit sometimes goes bad there can be other issues I would check first. I had the same thing last year. The gauge had built up a film that inhibited the gauge from moving properly. I cleaned the tank with the cleaner from West Marine and problem went away.
