Last week we were cruising along and the water in fuel warning displayed on the Yamaha screen. We had been out for a while and the boat was running perfect until then. I came down off plane and limped her home only a couple of miles. During the cruise back to the Marina she was running a bit rough with what felt like a vibration.
I had put 30 gallons of fuel on earlier in the day bringing the total in the tank to 50 gallons. When I got back I changed the fuel water separator and the filter in the bowl of the water in fuel sensor.
When I took the boat out to test the warning came back on as soon as I planed the boat. There was no water present in either the separator or the bowl of the sensor. I confirmed the black disk at the bottom of the sensor moved freely. The wiring does not appear to be corroded or pinched.
The boat is a 2016 R23 with the Yamaha 200.
Any help or insight would be appreciated. She is moored at Cap Sante in Anacortes.
