I have a cutwater 30 ft
when we are using the shower or the sink in the HEAD the water does not flow out evenly,, It pulsates, the water comes out at a good rate then it slows down to a very low rate and then speeds up again and so on and so on.. I can hear the pump also doing the same thing,, Is this normal, very difficult to have a shower... the water pressure is also very low on the washdown at the rear of the boat, I think the pump is pooched,, does anybody else have this issue

It is normal for the water to pulsate somewhat. However, if there is a restriction it will be more prominent. Check the filter screen at the pump and make sure it is clean. Also check any screens at the galley sink handle and the shower. There can be two screens at the heads, one where the hose connects and one at the aerator. There is also a possibility of a screen where the water supply line connects to the fixture supply leads. Not sure if Ranger eliminated the small check valve at the galley sink. This has always been susceptible to clogging and many of us have removed it.

The raw water wash down pump is a different pump and that issue would not be related to the freshwater pump. Make sure the raw water seacock is open and the ball valve at the hose attachment in the cockpit is fully open.

If that doesn't do it, remove the hose feeding the ball valve hose attachment in the cockpit and see how the free flow of pumped water is.

All of the suggestions are correct. If you had good pressure at one time and now it has decreased at the sink/shower in the head . Knotflying's suggestions will most likely resolve your problems. The water pumps used on Rangers and Cutwaters and also in most boats are diaphragm pumps with pressure switch. The pulsation is a combination of the pump pulsations and the pressure switch. Boats with multiple fresh water outlets, shower, head, galley sink, transom sink, transom shower, ice maker have a more noticeable pulsation. It is also more noticeable when using a outlet at full flow ( taking a shower). A way to eliminate this is to install ( Pressurized Accumulator Tank). This will eliminate the pulsations and provide a steady flow of water.

We have a 2018 R31 Sedan. Upon delivery, we had a water pulsing problem. It was most noticeable if washing hands while fresh water head was flushing. Our first thought was to get a pressure accumulator tank as suggested by Brian. However, we had already arranged for the installation of a “whole house purifier” just after the potable pump and before distribution. We decided to wait until that work was done before adding an accumulator. It turns out that the purifier itself is a sufficient reservoir to eliminate the pulsing.

I like the idea of the whole house purifier - two birds with one stone. What model did you install? Where's the cartridge located? Thanks!

It will be a couple days before I get back to the boat to where all my manuals are. I'll send make/model/etc after that.
