Has any R25 owner experienced water (?) staining on the furry cabin liner under the DG windows? We are starting to see serious staining, a light brown coloring, but no dampness, under the port side sliding windows. Anyone with a solution to reclaiming the original color? Kit and Ginny

I am glad you wrote about this because I had the same problem. We had sudden an unexplained light brown staining of the fur next to the cabin door. I started near the top of the cabin, not at the top which is strange, continued along side the rear window and down about six inches. I am not certain of the cause. I thought it was a water caused stained from some intrusion but I am not certain. One guess I have is that the fur is picking up a stain from the underlying structural material.

I used a solution of water with vinegar to blot it our. 90% is gone but if I look for the staining it is still there.

By the way, the Laurie Ann was built in the summer of 2007. Which year is yours?

I have use Oxy by Zep with dramatic results. But you do need to determine where the water is coming from. i would recommend getting Andrew involved as he may have some quick answers to the problems.

We have the same problem on the port sliding window near/over the dinette. I just use upholstery cleaner from the nearest auto parts dealer (auto zone, pep boys, etc.) and it cleans it like new. I have determined that it comes from the hand rail over the window, where it is bolted on, and that it occurs when water builds up over a certain height in the drain gutter. Fortunately, this really only happens when it is on block, or a trailer, and there is water in the gutter. It is still a pain though.

I really haven't found a way to easily unbolt, reseal, and remount the hand rail. Any pointers would definitely be appreciated.

Our R25 is a 2007. We bought it in early 2007, hull #7.

Ah! Water and vineagar, our favoite cleaner. We'll try that and we have upolstery cleaner also. We just spent two nights on TUGETHER and although the staining has not increased, we cannot find the cause. It makes us wonder what the unseen water damage is. We will use all suggestions. Thanks.

A new R-27 or R-29 would certainly solve this situation........ Not saying you may not have a water leak on either of these, just a new location possibly...... and by the way, how do you make coffee on your Ranger Tug......

Coffee! Gotta have it! We have the two burner electric and boil water in a sauce pan. It heats fast and then is poured into a single filter over a very large cup. I leave enough water for an additional half cup using the same grounds/filter. Works great. We have the Mase 2.5kw so we can do the same at anchor. K and G

BAY RANGER is another fur stain sufferer under and behind the port side dinette window. Upholstery cleaner cleaned it (about 90%). I applied marine sealant around the window but am still getting occasional staining. I agree with doke01 that it must be coming from the grab rail above the window. Iight have to try to loosen the brow above the window and see if I can get some sealant around the grab rail attachment points.

The grab rails are secured to the cabin roof by a threaded stud from the hand rail and bolted on the inside of the cabin. I suggest, finding the suspected leaker, slitting the fur liner, removing the bolt and try to put sealant between the handrail and the outside cabin surface. Gooping it around the outside of the handrail/cabin joint will not likely work.
