We are newbies and have several questions re: our Ranger Tug 31. Questions: 1) how do you use the vent located in the ceiling of the V berth. 2) Why are we having such a hard time keeping our outlets functional. The gfi's keep popping off on generator and engine. 3) Should the toilet flush twice each time? 4) Is there an operators manual available? We seem to have everything but..... Much thanks! Welcome to the forum and to the Ranger Tug family! You are in the right place to ask questions. But I have some suggestions. First, you may get the most helpful responses by posting your questions one at a time, at least for things as different as your toilet and the gfi tripping on your outlets. Also, give a few details specific as part of the question. Like, for the toilet, what year tug do you have and what model toilet? We don't all have the same "head" unit, and different ones flush using different cycles. The configurations of our boats can vary a lot -- for example, ours does not have a generator, and we've never had a problem with our outlets tripping. But others with generators may. A post directed to that specific problem may draw more responses.

As for a Manual, look under the Ranger Tug Factory Support forum, and then the technical bulletins sub forum. Manuals for several of the models are there. They give you very basic information. Not any real "how to." But you can get a lot of the hands on advice you may be looking for from the other owners on this forum.

Gini gave good suggestions. Here are a couple of more. We also have a generator on an R31, but have never had trouble with GFIs tripping. Just be sure that you have the Charger/Invertor off during changing sources of AC power. Only run the invertor without AC power. We have found it best to have the AC water heater switched off during changing of power and never run it on the invertor.

The Tecma toilet does flush twice during the big flush. You can just empty it by holding both buttons down for a few seconds. Then we use the left button to add rinse water to bowl.

All manuals for the different systems on the boat should be in two black Ranger Tug bags....hidden somewhere on your boat.

the vent in the fwd berth is nearly useless as far as i can tell. it is spring loaded. Push the inner button up to open vent, squeeze the two petals on side together to close. At least it doesn't seem to let in water. A gale force wind will bring some air through. The toilet does flush twice and refill with water so it will make three noises. our outlets do not pop off - though the one for the ice maker in the cockpit was popped when we received the vessel. There is no R-31 manual I have found - there is one posted on tug nuts for the R-29 which is similar. I wish there was one for the 31 that showed what is where for the lines, vents, circuits, etc.

There are so many options available that a "Factory Manual" really cannot include everything. We have collected the individual equipment and accessory manuals and created a reference section on our computer hard drive. The files are also copied to a CD. Many of the printed manuals we used are replicated in PDF files on line so we used the PDF files whenever possible and scanned the rest. The biggest variations among the R-29's seems to be the electrical setup. We bought a "boat show" model so we got options we really don't use that much. It just so happens that the setup we have is very user friendly for me and I just created my own "single line" drawing specific to Ladybug, Too. I am still adding to the wiring diagram even after tracing everything out after getting hit by lightning. You just have to poke around, ask folks on this forum and learn the boat one step at a time. I guess I'll really know Ladybug, Too the day we sell her. When it comes to safety or systems on the boat, I have learned the hard way to ask. This forum has saved me from myself several times. There are no "dumb" questions.
