Weaver davit vs Pacer lift for a dinghy on a 27

I am in the process of making a decision about which of the fine products to install on my 27. i would welcome any comments of what current users see as advantages of one product over the other. Thanks

I use the weaver davits on my R-29. I really love them! I love how easy it is to launch and retrieve the dinghy. I am out at Catalina Island at the moment and every time I come back up to my boat all I do is bring my dinghy up along the swimstep, grab on to my patio rails step out and then with my back foot, i just line up the dinghy with the davits and snap them in. It is so quick and easy. That is also how i keep it secured to the boat till I am ready to use it again.

My dog loves then because the dinghy stays stable to the swimstep and so all i need to do is say load up and he does it without any hesitation because it is so stable.
The other reason I like the weavers is, I can launch the dinghy in seconds if there was a emergency.

Shared Dream R29 uses the pacer lift. It is a one man operation to store and deploy the dinghy and you do not have to look at the dinghy on the stern of your boat while cruising. Once you are on the hook, or at location, the dinghy can be easily deployed and either stored on top or tied to the swim step. As with ours, the addition of a canvas cover on the dinghy provides a convenient storage location for items like cushions or trash that cannot be immediately dealt with.

Hi Mac,
We have a Pacer Lift on our boat, it is the prototype. Our experience has been very good with the unit. We acquired the prototype because we developed the concept and gave it to a friend who owns a metal fabrication company. He hired a stress and a Human Resources Engineer to help design the final product. The Pacer Lift is certified to 200lbs capability after demonstrating the capablity to lift 600lbs, a 3 to 1 requirement. It can launch from either side of the boat as it is built on a track that allows it to move from side to side and puts the launch at a comfortable distance from the side of the boat. The mast can be lowered by removal of a locking pin to allow limited clearances. It can also be locked in one of three positions to keep the boom from swaying from side to side. The electric winch has a wired remote control so that you can stand on the side and control the up and down movement. I highly recommend it. One thing I forgot to mention is that our original Ranger was a R-25 so it was designed to fit a boat with a 8'6" beam. It is now on our R-29 so it can fit both with minor changes. It mounts to the side rails and the factory limits the lift to 200lbs.

Bruce, you might check with Blessings, I think its the one Furnie has. I thought it was difficult to retrieve the dingy as we observed.

We are taking delivery of a R29 in a couple of weeks and I am considering having a Pacer installed. Can you tell me what size of dinghy and outboard you have ? Also, there is no website for the Pacer that I can find. Do you know where I could see the specifications and wiring instructions 🙂 Thanks!

Islander. I would suggest you talk to Jeff about your options. We have one for kayaks and it works very well but I know Shared Dreams uses it for their inflatable. Their dingy is capable of carrying four adults as they demonstrated last year at the Tug Fest in Bremerton when thy came for their margaritas at the dock.

Shared Dream's inflatable is a Zodiac 8'4", with a 6hp Suzuki outboard.

I have attached pictures in our photo album (Nellie Too) showing the Pacer Lift with Kayaks. I have not yet installed the new unit on the boat but will very soon. These pictures show how two kayaks will mount side by side and still allow the lift to operate on either side.
