The Webasto FCF 9000 airconditing unit on our 2016 Cutwater 24 is no longer cooling. Fan works and cooling water flows through, compresser runs, but the output air is not cooled. Probably there has been a refrigerant leak. Has anyone had experience having this type of unit repaired? Costs? Better to replace it? How hard to get the old unit out and the new unit in? Best source for replacement unit? Any advice will be welcomed!

I went through the same problems a couple years ago on my C24 and after a reputable company said I needed to replace the unit I thought no way. I put a charging fittings the unit and recharge the unit and that was not the problem, turned out to be a simple capacitor. Replaced the capacitor and the AC unit has been fine for two years now.

Thanks for suggestions. I just ordered 40 mfd cap to try the easy fix first!

When I got inside the electric panel I could smell burnt electrical parts immediately. The top of the capacitor was burnt along with the connectors and wires connecting to the capacitor. Replaced with same rating capacitor and it’s been fine for over two years.

If the capacitor fix doesn’t work and you have a trailer or access to one, call Cool Breeze Marine Air Conditioning and Refrigeration in Tarpon Springs. (727) 938-3308.

They work mostly on big yachts, but in 2018, they agreed to work on the system in my 2012 R27. I was in Florida on a trip and trailered my boat to them. They efficiently analyzed the the system, correctly diagnosed the problem and fixed it at a reasonable cost.
