Go boating, sounds easy enough! Well due to a distinct disagreement with the current economy and my vision of retirement I am still working. In Lloydminster Alberta of all places. Look it up and then see if you don't feel like sending me money  just to put in in perspective it's about a 1,000 miles from my boat. Well another obsession of mine, according to my dear wife, is motorcycles. Personally I think it's just economical transportation. 😉 So tomorrow Friday September 6 I will leave workaround noon (don't tell my Boss) and with a friend I head for Sidney BC, did I mention 1,000 miles? Actually he is going to Vancouver to see his girlfriend, on his bike, not on mine .... please!! Strange I thought, boats are better lovers, his choice :? Just to add to the fun my son who works in Fort McKay, another God forsaken location in Alberta, flew out tonight to hang with dear old Dad. Now don't get me wrong the Ranger Tug Gang are an amazing group but I'm going to spend a week, on the boat, just my son and I. To top it off I get two long distance trips to validate the fuel economy of a BMW R1200RT motorcycle. I will report the fuel mileage to my wife to justify the purchase of this fuel sipping commuting machine.

We lived and raised our kids on the island and are trying desperately to get back there permanently. In due time. In the interim we will do what we have to in order to be on the water. Not a bad way to compromise, eh?

Cheers, Leon

ps The wife went to Ireland with her Sister and Mother for a holiday so I get to play 😀 She'll never know ........

Sounds like a perfect plan! Enjoy and report back...

Poor fellow

He believes his own words My wife will never know
Can't wait for the report on that. Let me get this straight he is going to tell her the economics of the motorcycle
But she will never know
Enjoy the boat ride

Sounds like a perfect plan to me. Willie and I spent many years traveling on BMW motorcycles (R50, R69US, R75/5, R1100RT, K1200LT) to name a few. We can vouch for the economy  . You should take your wife along so she can see for herself. We did our traveling with tents and sleeping bags...only upgrading to a Kwik Kamp with the K1200LT as we figured we had slept on the ground enough. I guess that is why we can live aboard our 27 for months at a time (without killing each other).

Not sure if we will cross back into the Gulf Islands again before we head South for the winter, but if we do maybe we can visit again. Us yellow boats need to stick together. Have fun with your son.
