2021 R29 CB with the Volvo 320hp....I have a bay boat that weighs ~3250 lbs fully loaded...is that something I can tow?

(I don't mean over long distances but just in our bay here in Fort Myers inside Sanibel Island)

The idea would be to anchor the R29 and use as a "base" and the bay boat for fishing etc

Thx

What you're really asking is, are the cleats on the port and stud quarters strong enough to handle the load... I suspect the they don't have a backing plate designed to handle the dynamic load from towing a large boat. Not to mention, the thickness of the fiberglass where. the cleats are mounted. In any case, you'd want to use a towing bridle so that you can spread the load between the two cleats. If you have railings on your swim platform, they might be in the way of a bridle.

I recently read an article about someone towing a Boston Whaler I think. Strong following sea came up, BW slammed into transom of the towing boat: boat sunk. Coast Guard rescue.

Now that was open ocean, not a calm bay, but there you have it. This isn't the article, but some nice tips

I would check with Ranger for a definitive answer. With that said I know the boat can be lifted by the stern eyes, but can't recall if they are high enough to clear the swim step from chaffing.
