As we were cruising into the Gulf side of Islamaroda day before yesterday on our way to the Marina at World Wide Sportsman [ Bass Pro Shops Saltwater Fishing store, Marina and Restaurant, we see a little bitty red boat way across the bay looking like a RANGER TUG. But she was a long way away and so we plotted a course to intercept and pushed the throttle forward just a little bit and off we charged.

Tried to read the name for quite a ways but either the binoculars or the older eyes just weren't focusing. So we gave it just a little more throttle and about the time I could make out "Lucky Finn" my bride suggested that i call them on the radio - really took some of the fun out of the chase.

So there we were here in Florida with 2 Tugs on a converging course.

Well, we did meet up and got together for a little while ashore. They had trailered from Oregon to Ft. Myers Fl.

That RED R-25 did make a pretty picture on the water.

Capt D's former boat (and a darn nice one)... good to see that the new owner is getting out and about with it! Did you ask 'em if they participate on this forum?

Have fun in the Keys!

Best wishes,
Jim B.

We were yet another red Ranger tug on the Gulf side of Islamorada that same day. We were at the Cowpens Anchorage area just east Snake Creek. How many red tugs were there? 🙂

You know the tune:

Red Tug In The Sunset
Way Out On The Blue
Why Oh Why
Can't I be Out There With You

Ya, ya, ya, , I've got another dozen verses rattling in my head, but I will spare you...
Third line could also be: Hawaii Oh Why

Thank you so much Denny for your song. We love it and borrowed it for our blog. Sorry to report 78 degrees here, winds calm, water clear. Have a very happy New Year!

SUWANNEE -

If you had looked out again on December 30th, you would have seen another Ranger Tug cruise by! We anchored in Community Harbor at Tavernier on December 29, and headed south past Islamorada on the 30th. We are currently at Marathon Marina and Boatyard for the months of January and February.

Stop down by boat or car if you get a chance!
