....comfortable towing?
For all the present owners of Ranger and Cutwater boats...from a towing standpoint, would you buy the same boat again if you could? or would you go larger/smaller? This question deals primarily with the ability to tow the boat with a dually 1 ton truck to what ever points one would care to go in this great country of ours. I'm trying to get an idea of the maximum size boat one would want to pull, the width seems to be the main concern with special permitting and all.

Thanks and Regards

I just towed my 29 from north of Toronto to Fort Myers with my 3/4 ton diesel.. I used a permit company on the way down but did them all my self for the trip back. Is not complicated but if you had a 27 you could just hook and go anytime. When getting permits check how much yearly permits are I found out some are not that much more then a single use permit.. That way your time is more flexible. Most permits are good for 10 days Ohio is 4 .. But also I think more important is your comfort level towing . Smaller is easier but other then the permit part I can't imagine a lot of difference between towing a 27 vs a 29 once you get going.. Oh you do have more height as well with a 29 I'm 13ft 2 in which is legal but you need to be careful off the highway

Yep, these are all substantial boats to drag around but worth it once you are on the water. At least with a dually diesel you have the right place from which to start. No permits up to and including the R 27 and C 28 - both super comfortable for two well organized adults. I doubt whether there is a substantive difference in trailering these and the R 25 given the right tow vehicle but no doubt the 25 would be slightly less intimidating until you get some miles under your belt. There have been issues with the GVW of factory supplied trailers recently so be careful that you get the heaviest trailer you can find to fit whatever you buy. Once equipped for cruising, and complete with leftover fluids, personal and boating gear etc. they quickly become 10,000 lb or more loads, and you can't unload all of it into the truck!

Like bad girls, those of us with 25's go 'everywhere'
