What is this Beckson clip for in the engine compartment?

What is this Beckson style clip (beside the two battery terminals) all about?
 
It's so you can position/insert the end of a hose to direct water directly into the raw water strainer (with its lid removed). This allows you to run the engine when on the hard land. 🙂

I observed the factory doing this for my R-21EC in their Kent boat yard.... that's how I know. 😉
 
ah so you don't have to do the bucket thing... thanks!
 
However, you may want to have that bucket catch the water from the exhaust pipe... for me, I have a gravel driveway so the water just soaks into the ground's 'french drain'. 🙂
