Well, I guess I have to stop all my sailing magazine subscriptions.

Having said that, what would be the best publications for me to read in order to get the most out of my tug?

Barry, you don't have to stop reading Sailing magazines just because you don't have a sailboat!! I get WoodenBoat and all my boats are Fiberglass, no I take that back, we have a 12' Bolger Bobcat that IS wood.

Probably the best resource for Ranger Tugs is the one you're reading right now!

I would recommend Saveur and Garden and Gun . Nothing to do with boating [except on occasion] , but 2 of my favorites !
Oh and Passagemaker .

Barry - I also tried to wean myself off of the sailing magazines, but could not part with Sailing. The photos alone are worth the price, and I like the format.

My favorite one for boaters like us is Soundings. It is more geared for your region, but they don't think we all own megayachts. For us west coast boaters, we have Sea, so I'm covered.

Happy boating!

Our favorite is the Canadian magazine "Pacific Yachting". Lots of good coverage for BC and the PNW, good cruising and practical info.

I'll second for Woodenboat. Great magazine. It's geared to the builder, but it has many great ideas and tips on maintenance for your boat, no matter the type.

It took a while... after we bought our C-Dory, we eventually let the subscriptions run out on all the sailing magazines. Well, except Lats & Atts. These days, we make it home so seldom that we no longer subscribe to any magazines (down from about 30 5 years ago)... too much of a pain to forward. The endless content on the internet and wireless broadband make it easy to stay informed and entertained... while on the boat or on the road... or even at home. Plenty of books and on-line magazines and newspapers on the iPad.

To get the most out of your tug, spend as much time as possible onboard. 😉 Congrats on the purchase!

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Go join your local library city/county/township... With that card any library (almost any) is a universal bookstore, and many will allow you to take the books with you and turn them in at another library further along your route...
