When I removed the old Raytheon Radar from the wheelhouse roof of my 1992 R21 I observed the ellipitical outline of what must have been a previously installed object of some sort. Just guessing, the fore and aft measurement of the ellipse would have been about 14" and the side to side measurement would have been about 11". It appears that it was not secured with caulking but, rather, there is a 4-bolt pattern, measuring about 8" square, somewhat centered - but towards the rear of the ellipse. There was also a 1" square cutout in the center of the bolt pattern. All of the previous attachment holes have been filled with epoxy and they are almost undetectable on the ceiling of the wheelhouse. Can you tell me what was previously installed there? I'm guessing that it may have been a fake "funnel" of sorts, however I'm reasonably certain that it came with the tug as OEM equipment. Do you have any profile drawings of a 1992 R21 that I could have for reference?

If you go to the Photo Albums link, and select Tugnuts Owner Albums, you'll see some pictures of older R21s. There was a false smoke stack on the cabin top. I'm not sure, but they may have had a radar reflector inside the stack.

Thanks Brad. I'll check that out.

Ok - I checked and found at least two tugs with a small imitation smokestack that would surely be the missing object. In my personal opinion it doesn't do anything for the tug - and I'll bet that many were removed for that very reason. Thanks for helping me to solve the mystery.
