Where to purchase Volvo Penta parts?

Anyone have suggestions on where to purchase parts (not your normal routine Maint. parts like filters, impeller ) for Volvo-Penta engine. I ordered end cover for heat exchanger on D1-30 from local shop on Vancouver island and was told it would be 2 to 3 weeks. Now into week 4 and when I checked on the status was told it's now held up at customs. Must be a better/quicker way to get parts. Missing out on the first month of halibut season.

I use http://www.volvopentastore.com . Fortunately I have not had to buy any major parts just general maintenance parts. They have a full parts schematic for each engine and component break down with parts listed.

its worth asking the factory. I needed to replace the second outdoor volvo engine monitoring screen and the quotes from suppliers was all over the map. I think the factory gets good discounts which they pass on.

Thanks guys for comments. I tried to contact Volvo Penta Global, by phone and no luck. From their website they direct you to a dealer so I contacted Volvo Penta Canada and they told me that they are just distribution centre for parts. However, the general public cannot buy part directly from them. I have to go to local dealer that would go through them and they would go overseas for non off the shelf parts that they don't carry. Also wanted to speak with someone regarding an issue that's still going to be there when I replace the parts but can't seem to track anyone down through their main office. A local shop that deals with maintenance on Volvo Penta's cannot answer my questions. Frustrating.

You really can’t complain about parts not being available AND wholesalers and distributors adding costs. They (should) carry the inventory that the manufacturer won’t, are set up to ship individual parts. Distribution channels exist because they provide value to the customer and the manufacturer.

They also take the heat when then part isn’t what you thought. You call Richard at Ranger and you are also paying for his knowledge and he will back that up. Your order the wrong part from a internet discount place and you get what you ordered.

sorry i perhaps wasnt clear with my point. The ranger factory offers wonderful service and has great prices on volvo parts.
what ive found is all the online services and in fact many other supposed volvo certified locations ive tried have poor service and expensive parts!
I was reacting and agreeing with newf's experience.

the ranger factory and the parts department is always my first call for Volvo parts.
