Selling my 2017 Classsic R27. Buyer doesn’t want the trailer. I have someone interested in the trailer for his 2022 Cutwater C24 Coupe. Would it fit? What modifications would be necessary?

It could be made to fit but they would have to do alot of adjustments to the bunks. I looked at a trailer made for a 28' Cutwater that had been adjusted by the Ranger factory to fit a R27.
If the sale doesn't go I would be interested in the trailer for my Ranger 25. I have the boat in Hansville.
Thanks,

Hi there,

As the old saying goes, you can make anything work if you're willing to spend enough money. That trailer would be a bit longer than what might be practical for the 24. The bunks will most likely need to be moved at the very least and you may end up having to make new ones. You will also have the problem that the weight of the 24 would be too far aft, causing the tongue weight to be too low. Even though they're both outboard boats, the 24 will need to sit aft enough for the prop to not interfere with the rear cross member when you load the boat, taking weight off the front. Also, since the 24 is three feet shorter (in general) than the 27 you will lose all of the weight of the 27s bow area since it doesn't exist on the 24, adding to the problem. Hope this makes sense but let me know.

Cheers,

Ralf

The R27 is a classic with inboard diesel.

Looking at my R27 OB tri-axle trailer, the bunks are adjustable side to side, tilt angle adjustable, but not adjustable up and down. Axles not easily adjustable front to rear. Front bow stop easily could be moved close to 2 feet aft. Never have compared the 2 hulls, can’t say how much time and effort it would take. But methinks it may not be that big a project.

My Venture aluminum trailer for my C242 has 4 bunks. Two main rear ones and 2 smaller ones up front. The reason for 4 is because of the stepped hull. My lift in Florida had to be configured to accommodate the steps which was not easy.
