Windlass Maintenance

Has anyone had luck disassembling a windlass like this that is mounted low in a recess? It hasn't failed but I'd like to do some routine maintenance to check the condition etc. without having to pull it out. Even if I can get the screws out, will I be able to service anything? Thanks.

There really isn't any maintenance on the gear side of the windlass. I replaced the gypsy because it had become worn and was causing the chain to slip. I also ordered replacement drive pins.
