Has anyone replaced a sliding window on a Ranger? “Laughing Gull” (R25) was broken into while on blocks at our Delaware marina. The miscreants tried to pry the window frame off before breaking the glass, so I need to replace the whole window. (They then went on to steal the plot charter and radar dome, but that’s another story.) I’ve talked to the factory and they can send me the window, but I’m wondering how difficult the replacement will be. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated. Bill Hensley.

BILL,IT;S EXTREMELY EASY... THE TWO PIECE FRAME IS HELD TOGETHER BY IETHER PHILIPS HEAD OR SQUARE DRIVE SCREWS ATTACHED FROM THE INDSIDE OBVIOUSLY .. A GOOD CORDLESS SCREWDRIVER MAKES THE JOB A LOT FASTER. TAKE OUT ALL THE SCEWS REMOVE BOTH SIDES OF THE WINDOW AND REPLACE WITH THE NEW ONE IN THE ORDER THE OLD ONE CAME OUT.... I TOOK OUT MY STEARN WINDOW [FIXED] AND REPLACED IT WITH A WINDOW MOUNT AC FOR THE TIME WE WERE IN THE SEA OF CORTEZ -- THE ENTIRE JOB TOOK ABOUT 45 MINUTES--- GOOD LUCK,, BUT YOU REALLY DON'T NEED ANY  STEVEANDTINA

Bill,
These windows are very simple to replace. You simply unscrew all of the screws around the inside retaining ring. Take the ring off. Then go to the outside. With a large putty knife simply slide it under the lip of the window frame until it works lose. Be careful not to scratch the gel coat around the window.

Once the old window is out, apply fresh weather stripping around the new window frame. Reinsert the new window in the opening (someone will need to hold the new window in place or use duct tape to hold it in place). Go back inside, place the retaining ring over the window, reinsert the screws, tighten, and you are done.

Really no more than a thirty minute job.

Sorry to hear about the scoundrels that decided that they liked what was yours. They will get theirs in the end. These type of people always do.

Good Luck,
David
