Windshield Cover Snap

One of the snaps that holds the windshield cover came off. I noticed it was held on by a grey adhesive. Can I use any glue to re-attach or should I remove the existing adhesive and use something similar to what is there?
 
You can but those "snaps" as peel and stick 3M products. I know Sailrite has them, but they are probably available other places.
