So.....the wiper on the drivers side appears to be toast.
Looked for a fuse, but could not find one. These motors are $$$. Will continue to research this weekend while @ Blake Is. Port side wiper works fine. Any suggestions?

I think there is a fuse under the wiper button on the panel. Maybe that needs to be reset. Take a look.

Harry - Thanks, I will investigate.

On our 2011 R27 Classic, there are black knobs above the switches on the panel for wipers, fan, etc. As I recall, pushing the corresponding black knob resets the breaker.

Hi there,

The fuse is located on the Dash Fuse Block #1 in the mirror cabinet inside the head. It is a 30 amp fuse, third one down on the right. That fuse also serves the other wiper plus a couple of others, so if it were blown, the other wiper would not work. You will need to do a bit more diagnosis, but I believe that your wiper motor may be defective

Cheers,

Ralf

In our 2015 C28 the starboard wiper burned up in 2020 during a rainy day of frequent use. It was too hot to even touch. The new motor was $169 at that time. The port side was fine. Now, I touch them once in a while when in use to make sure they are not heating up. So far, no issues so I'm hoping it was just a one-off situation.

We've got a 2014 C28 and have had to replace the port side wiper motor. It was so hot that the armature shaft bearing melted the housing and made removal of the old one difficult because you could not longer get to the screw. I had to grind the housing out with a Dremel tool. I corresponded with the manufacturer. Their basic response was 'unlike car wipers, you need to be cautious using them for extended periods without enough water on the window as they will heat up to the point where they will overheat'. I am much more cautious about leaving the wipers running now. Live and learn...

Thanks everyone for your wiper motor horror stories. Looks like I'm due for a new motor.

I use Rain-X on the windshield to help cut down on the need to use the wipers. In most cases I can get get away with using the wipers intermittently verses having them run continuously.

Please, please, check your wiper motor if switch doesn’t work, after checking switch opened up motor area above windshield motor had shorted was to hot to touch cut power and removed might have caused fire if not found.opened motor housing found pinched charred wire

Agree on Rain-x. Use of wipers down 80%
